In response to the attached "report" [click
here to see "Pigeons Are Not Harmless"] from the Environmental Health
Division of the Mohave County Health Department, we make the following
request:
Pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute (ARS) 39-121 et seq.
for a non-commercial purpose, The Urban Wildlife Society hereby requests
copies of any and all documents, reports, studies, memoranda, notes, statistics,
and other records pertaining directly or indirectly to:
-
any and all CONFIRMED cases of any and all pigeon
zoonoses ACTUALLY contracted by human beings IN MOHAVE COUNTY;
-
any and all CONFIRMED cases of any and all pigeon
transmitted diseases ACTUALLY contracted by pet animals IN MOHAVE
COUNTY;
-
the types of non-pigeon related hazards, i.e. airborne
insulation particles, dust, wood decay, insect debris, etc., which would
require wearing respirators or face masks in similar areas and situations,
i.e. building demolition, where pigeons are NOT found.

the contention that pigeon nesting sites are GENERALLY
CONSIDERED "aesthetically annoying";
-
justification for using the term "rats with feathers" in
a government information document;
-
justification, including any and all supporting law, rules,
and/or policy, for recommending that Lake Havasu City Officials IMMEDIATELY
"organize a Citizen Committee to activate an abatement policy for the pigeon
population problem…"
We request that the copies of these records be mailed to
the Urban Wildlife Society, State Headquarters, Attn: Dave Roth, 717 W.
Cambridge Ave., Phoenix, AZ, 85007, no later than April 21, 1997.
