In response to the attached "report" [click here to see "Pigeons Are Not Harmless"] from the Environmental Health Division of the Mohave County Health Department, we make the following request:

Pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute (ARS) 39-121 et seq. for a non-commercial purpose, The Urban Wildlife Society hereby requests copies of any and all documents, reports, studies, memoranda, notes, statistics, and other records pertaining directly or indirectly to:

  • any and all CONFIRMED cases of any and all pigeon zoonoses ACTUALLY contracted by human beings IN MOHAVE COUNTY;
  • any and all CONFIRMED cases of any and all pigeon transmitted diseases ACTUALLY contracted by pet animals IN MOHAVE COUNTY;
  • the types of non-pigeon related hazards, i.e. airborne insulation particles, dust, wood decay, insect debris, etc., which would require wearing respirators or face masks in similar areas and situations, i.e. building demolition, where pigeons are NOT found.
  • the contention that pigeon nesting sites are GENERALLY CONSIDERED "aesthetically annoying";
  • justification for using the term "rats with feathers" in a government information document;
  • justification, including any and all supporting law, rules, and/or policy, for recommending that Lake Havasu City Officials IMMEDIATELY "organize a Citizen Committee to activate an abatement policy for the pigeon population problem…"
We request that the copies of these records be mailed to the Urban Wildlife Society, State Headquarters, Attn: Dave Roth, 717 W. Cambridge Ave., Phoenix, AZ, 85007, no later than April 21, 1997.

Sincerely,
 [DRoth]
Dave Roth
